Last night, a strange thing.
I dreamt of
Troy.It has been so long since this happened, that I could not even be sure of what was going on.
Troy was in my
house (of all places!)
He was talking to my
family! He had brought his family! To talk to my family!
(This whole time, he was ignoring me resolutely.)
But then! My washing had to be taken down from the line (it looked like rain.)
And so he helped me.
He carried the laundry basket into my room, helped me make my bed, and all this while we didn't speak a word, and for all intensive purposes acted as though the other didn't exist.
Until.
I said, 'Thank you.'
And he smiled.
And then he turned to walk away, whereupon I called out, 'Wait!'
And I turned my back and rummaged in my wardrobe before pulling out
an Eagles record! This I then proceeded to hand him, and he looked at it a moment, before running out and playing it on the record player in the living room.
(In the meantime, I'd written a script! For a movie! And pages of the script were somehow floating around the living room, speaking their lines, so that the voices of the script mingled with the music of the record. All in all! Rather extraordinary.)
And then Troy sent me (how fitting) a rather incoherent text message that said something along the lines of 'o3ux oa,xlp
i love you i love this record! ajouxsx 2p2190' and so forth.
So I ignored the text and got on with my Life.
The next moment I found myself really rather ravenous, and so ventured into the kitchen.
(Troy's parents still laughing wildly in the living room with my parents, red wine sloshing around everywhere.)
Who do I spy upon?
Troy is half naked, rummaging through my pantry! (His chest is really rather delightful.)
'Ah ha!' he cries triumphantly, holding up a glass to the light. 'Oh, hello.' He peers at me through the glass.
'What are you
doing?'
'I was looking for a glass of RUM!' he says happily, watching as the glass fills with a dark brown liquid.
'That's really rather disgusting,' I say after a moment.
'No,' he says, and runs off with a beer clamped in his hand, the rum left spinning on the counter top, like in a cartoon.
As I said, last night, a strange thing.
